Thoughts on the Room per Nero

I had a long and fruitful conversation with Nero, head of music and lead collaborator, about the room from the parable and how we will portray it. I was considering a blue screen and manufacturing a room on a computer; however, I had an initial vision of Jordan with his hand slowly moving across real drywall. I could see his face intent on the wall, and I could hear the sound of his skin caressing the boundary. I was so attracted to this vision, and it seemed like such a nice way to initiate the movie, with these close and serene, yet simple, shots. Nero supported and encouraged avoiding the blue screen concept, and then I was inspired further into showing less, i.e., pulling away from special effects. Maybe we only shoot the walls. Maybe we only suggest a room. I would be limited with the angles I could use, but I think this will add to the piece. ΒΆ Nero and I also discussed the contrast between Jordan’s world and the world he is to enter. Perhaps the world he is in, symbolized by the room, is cool and artificial as the bland walls and florescent lights suggest. Maybe we can tie this artificial world with the digital world.
