I can’t stop thinking about your film. I feel as if I’m carefully digesting a tender steak that was filled with shards of glass. I think most films are like escalators. You get on one, you are taken to a predetermined location, and all of this requires very little effort on your part. Your film, to me, is like a broken escalator. Even though you know it’s not working, for a split second your body feels as if it is falling. Uncomfortable. Tradition tells you that your part is over, but it’s not. You now have to climb the stairs that usually carry you. With your piece, I felt that once I got to the top, I was now faced with 50 more staircases.
