I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Multi-Media with a minor in Business. I am also a life long student of Humanities, and I will likely return for further formal education after my first Bachelors degree. I am nearly finished with the classes to obtain a Las Positas College Visual Communications certificate, and I’m currently preparing for a secondary education by acquiring an Associates in Arts, set for the Summer of 2007. I decided to attend Cal State East Bay for it’s location, multi-media department, and business program.

  • Similar Triangles: 07.03.08
    • Tags: , ,
Chapter 6.2 from the text is on similar triangles. Similar triangles have three pairs of congruent angles and pairs of sides that are proportional. A similarity postulate is derived from the definition of similar triangles, i.e., two triangles are similar if and only if three angles are congruent. This postulate can then be deduced to a triangle similarity theorem: two triangles are similar if two pairs of angles from each are similar. There are two other theorems I learned too: …
  • Math-37 Chapter 5 Complete: 07.02.08
    • Tags: , ,
I finished chapter 5, which covered parallel lines and quadrilaterals. I need to review the proof section for quadrilaterals, and I will do this through the chapter review sections over the weekend. Ideally, I would like to have the concepts and definitions readily in my head.

I also finished chapter 6, an introduction and primer on ratios.

  • Pscn-13 Chapter 5 Complete: 07.02.08
    • Tags: , ,
I finished the quiz for chapter 5, and I’m fairly comfortable with the concepts. Mr. Bundy also announced the schedule for the midterm. I will take a look at the study guide tomorrow.

I’m sticking to reviewing notes daily, all through my new studying process, as introduced in my article New Ways of Learning. This will be my first midterm working from the new study process.

  • Immigration Attitudes: 06.30.08
    • Tags: , ,
I read an article titled “Social Factors Influencing Immigration Attitudes” from the Social Science Journal. This was an internet research assignment – I ansered a series of questions, from Mr. Bundy, to make sure I understood the major points. I’m fairly skeptical of statistical data. It seems a bit aggressive to make conclusions on general social behaviors and attitudes of a broad culture when such a small number were interviewed, e.g., around 3000 people were questioned, but this is very …
  • Immigrants, Refugees, Acculturation: 06.29.08
    • Tags: , ,
I finished Chapter 4, Immigrants, Refugees, and the Acculturation Process, from the text book, Multicultural Psychology.

This chapter started about by defining immigrants and refugees. Immigrants are those who chose, or planned, to relocate to a new country, and refugees are those who were forced out of their country, e.g., by violence, war, and etc. The way immigrants and refugees experience adaptation to the new culture is very different, and this is due part into the factor of choice …

  • Chapter 4 Review: 06.29.08
    • Tags: , ,
I finished the review for chapter 4. This is for a pop quiz on Monday. I’m still having a little trouble with proofs given certain circumstances, but it is easy for me to derive answers for figuring angle measures and etc. I think this has to do with my spatial strength, i.e., being able to see and work through problems. However, putting the proofs into language is a bit more difficult. The spacial idea came to me when reading a …
  • Math-37 Late Start: 06.28.08
    • Tags: , ,
I’m getting a late start on my Math-37 notes – I was caught up with finishing notes on The Doorway. I’m two weeks into the course, and I’ve completed several chapters from the geometry text, subjects from basic geometric definitions and theorems to proofs. Things are going smooth; I believe I did well on the first exam, chapters 2 & 3. I will be more consistent on notes at this point, and I’m looking forward to strengthening my mathematical …
  • Pscn-13 Late Start: 06.28.08
    • Tags: , ,
I’m two weeks and four chapters into an online Multicultural Psychology course with Steven Bundy. I’m really enjoying the class, and it certainly is a sleeper course. The course is very well organized, and I really am enjoying the personal study time. In addition, this is the first semester I’m working with a spacing technique for studying, and this course is included in this trial.

I had a lot of ideas during the reading and research work, however, I was still …

  • Mythical - Humn 10 Final: 05.08.08
    • Tags: , ,
Today I turned in my Humanities 10 final essay, and this included doing a short wrap up presentation for the class. The final assignment was to complete an interdisciplinary project analyzing and associating three pieces of art, i.e., a musical piece, a painting, and a poem. I chose to base my project on Automat, by Edward Hopper.

I worked the analysis and association of Automat to Mythical, a song I wrote in 2003. I uploaded the …

  • Humn-10 Weekly Summary: 04.05.08
    • Tags: , ,
This post will be kept short; a lot of my time is being directed towards the movie, The Doorway. On Tuesday, we did a quick recap on last weeks in class movie, Across the World. On Thursday, we went over due dates on assignments. Again, I’m keeping it short for my busy schedule; I’ve been non-stop the past several weeks.
  • Fri. Training - Basic: 04.04.08
    • Tags: , ,
Today was a very basic back work out. I will keep this post short; most of my time is now dedicated to the movie. I worked out for about an hour, and I ran 2 miles at 7-10 mph. At the end I ran two 1/4 miles, in intervals, at 12 mph.
  • Mon. & Tue. Training - Improvement: 03.26.08
    • Tags: , ,
I forgot to log for training on Monday, so I will combine a short note for Monday and Tuesday. My run on Sunday, Spiritual Sunday, greatly influenced my recent workouts. As noted, on Sunday I ran for nearly 1.5 hours, half the distance uphill. My legs haven’t been so sore in nearly a year, but it feels good.

On Monday, I experienced gains on my weight lifting. This continued into Tuesday too, in addition, running today was easier. In the …

  • Fri. Training - Slow and Steady: 03.21.08
    • Tags: , ,
I started my Friday workout with a steady run at 8mph for 2 miles. I then moved into a mild back and upper body workout. Afterwards, I did the stair-master for 10 minutes, rotating my climb 360 degrees, i.e., climbing forward, sideways, and backwards. Last I finished with backwards sit-ups, also called good mornings, and stretched. In a previous log, I mentioned toning down my workouts, as to not push myself to burn out, as I have done for years …
  • Wed. Training - Endurance: 03.19.08
    • Tags: , ,
I ran a steady pace to kick things off, 6-7mph for the 1st .5 miles and 8mph for the additional 2.5 miles. Afterwards I did a slow and steady workout, focusing on technique. I was thinking about toning the intensity down even more; to where everything is at a slow and steady pace. I have a tendency to push my self really hard until I burn out; but I’m thinking of seeing how it feels to stay at the steady …
  • Math 55 Mid-Term: 03.19.08
    • Tags: , ,
I finished my Math 55x mid-term last week, several weeks ahead of schedule. I scored a 99% on it, making one small mistake. It’s been fun challenging myself with the tests and fast pace. I haven’t taken many journals on this course, for it is more of a lead in to Trigonometry for Geometry and the Calculus latter, and I may write one my journal once the course is completed.
