A Workshop from Within
Last night, I met Rob Nilsson to help him shoot a Direct Action workshop scene with Alchmed and Michelle. Before the shoot, I captured some very beautiful conversation between Alchmed and Rob; I may post the video soon. For the actual workshop scene, I did the camera work while Rob directed the talent. Rob possesses an uncanny ability to move the talent into feeling. ¶ Afterwards, as Rob planned, Rob and I went out to dinner at the Pyramid Ale House in Berkeley (worth noting was the absolutely tastefully enticing Thunder Head IPA). Prior to, Rob new that I went through a recent personal experience that influenced me, and he made it his objective to listen. What ensued was one of the most intense communications I ever participated in. I shared my experience in all of its glory, tragedy, beauty, gloom, and bloom. I associated these experiences from when I first read his article in Res magazine nearly 8 years ago to when I first met him in the lobby at the Arch Light Theater, the epitome of commercial cinema screening in Los Angeles. I explained the importance of that moment and how it was associated with my personal experience that was pulling at me heart. I explained my motive in returning to the Bay Area: my objective to unify the things I love. I shared how he was associated to my objective, how my inspiration in education was shared with my goals, and how my recent personal experience was tied in with these factors. I went into depth on the irony of my inability to literally recognize the obscure conditions of an obtuse loved one; this was ironic because I produced a movie, New World, centered around the subject, a person so greatly influenced by the past that it effects current romance. I then shared how all of this ties back to The Doorway. ¶ I am traveling into SF tomorrow to meet with Nero about the music. This weekend has become about The Doorway, but for now I will go and have dinner with another aspect of my unification objective, my family.
